Are they Twin Words?

These words look so familiar and create an opinion that both are common and the same, or maybe slight differences or synonyms. Surprisingly to know, both have their own story, structure, and designation, they revolve but never collide.

That’s my personal experience with the two words when I asked in an interview. It’s a funny experience to talk to. Of course, I lost the interview, don`t judge, not because of not knowing the difference. Anyways, I got an opportunity to investigate the difference.

So let`s find what I found

Copywriting: I call this as the face, because the face is the index of mind, so whatever rattles in the mind, the face reveals the same. Likewise, Copywriting is the face of a company, product, or service. It tells us what the particular business is trying to convey to the audience. A direct approach, but in the form of script, writing, and printing formats.

It simply had a pen name called ‘copy’ this copy is in the form of text and usually used on websites, advertisements, brochures, emails, and social media posts etc. In the world of business copywriting has a most important role to play.

Copywriting is the storyteller, people pleaser, eye-opener, crowed puller, and truth bender whatnot. It is a Preamble for the business world. But it all depends on how effective the copy is? The particular copy must drive the audience or customers to take action.

That one copy leads the customer to make a decision whether to get associate with the business for once or forever. It is a provocative tool towards sales.

Content Writing: I call this as a mind of the business, it also in the form of writing, but what? Is all matters.

It writes about the content of the product, services, and business. It gives the detailed information about a particular niche, It educates the readers, it engages the audience to connect, it talks about the pros and cons, it address the requirements, tells us the benefits.

It helps us in making an opinion. Content writing exists in the form of blogs, articles, press releases, social media posts, and email content etc. It adds value to the business, it provides a structure to the business. Literally content writing acts as the brand ambassador of the business.

Let`s compare profoundly.

3 major differences the readers must know.

Copywriting:

1. Goals: Copywriting focus on lead generation and Sales Pitching.

2. Direction: Copywriting directs each and every line towards the next level, nothing but Buying.

3. Purpose: Copywriting is born for the purpose of Conversion.

Content Writing:

1. Goals: Content Writing Facilitates the Copywriting

2. Direction: Content Writing has multi-level directions; it has enormous information to Create Value.

3. Purpose: It’s born to Engage, Educate and Inform.
